What should you focus on? Its tough to know, your retail customers often have very broad set of requirements, should you try to tackle them all?

In my experience developing a sound sustainability strategy can be broadly directed by a few key questions about your own business, your supply chain and your stakeholders.

I have helped a number of businesses develop specific topic strategies or broader strategies, some of them focused on Business to Business relationships, others blending in Business to Consumer as well.

For example whilst at Tesco I helped the Ethical Tea Partnership develop their Malawi 2020 tea programme, which was aimed at improving wage levels in the sector. (link to programme).

I work with Chiquita to further develop their overall sustainability approach, The Behind the Blue Sticker programme, and to communicate it through sustainability reports and other internal and external communications.

I have helped a large agricultural company work through their responsibility to migrant workers in relation to accommodation.
